Fun Facts about Goats

• Goats are considered  “The dog of the farm animals” because of how smart and affectionate they are. 🐕            
• Goats are extremely intelligent. Like dogs, goats can quickly learn tricks! My sweet Verity Doe, and Diamond goatling both know how to do 3 360’s in a row, kneel and pray, crawl (while they’re in the praying stance), stand and shake (where they extend their hoof to me, and we “shake hands.”) 🐐 
• Goats are AFFECTIONATE! Like a dog, they like to reach up and smell your breath, when greeting you, and rest their head on you. ❤️  They ADORE cuddles. ❤️My Verity goat loves to be brushed and scratched and loves to sit on my lap. Unless, of course, food is in the equation. She will gladly abandon her Mom’s lap for a handful of treats! Haha. 😉
• Goats can be equally smart and stubborn. (Ever heard of “Stubborn old Goat?”) For example, when I go up to the daytime pasture’s gate, and call out with a soprano voice, “Verity, Diamond, come!”, they quickly come prancing over to the gate and dive out safely before a bunch of jealous does try and “ram” them away from the gate. Because they know I am going to let them out free ranging with me. 🙂🐐 However, when it’s time to go back into the daytime pasture or the night quarters, they’re not so enthusiastic about coming to me on command, like a dog may be. 😉 Actually when I tell them to “come,” they run in the opposite direction, gobbling as much as they can, before I have to come and CARRY them back to the pasture! Often, to save my back, I lure them back to the daytime pasture with some tasty goat treats. 😉 Yeah, they can be quite STUBBORN at times. ☺️
• Goats know their Mom/Dad/owner’s voice! 🐐 Often when I call out to the goats, just my two does, Verity and Diamond, will answer me with “a Mom call”, because they know their Mom’s voice. ❤️❤️ A Goat will know/recognize your voice and follow you around, doing “ Mom call” to you, when you spend nearly every day with them as a goatling, whether bottle fed by YOU, or nursed by their Mom GOAT. ❤️ Spend time with your goats! 🐐  This is how you have extremely tame, affectionate, and friendly animals. 🙂
